These days everything is unpredictable. Even though we order something in the Internet, we do not know what we will get. I can complain directly.

Phones and Internet are very helpful. However, the Internet takes too much and is slow. Phones are the same. When we call, we don’t know who is talking. It is better to meet the persons and complain about their mistakes. I can show the damaged one to them in person. When they see the package, they will feel sorry and try to help me.

Complaining in person can show my anger for miscarriage. I can also get the answer immediately from them. In this way, I can save time and money.

These days the only to get something done properly is to do it yourself. When I have received a package that was somewhat damaged, the best way to deal with this situation was to complain in person. I have learned this through my experience.

For example, on the phone operators tell their customers to wait patiently on the line and then give answers that are usually unhelpful. Also, the Internet is equally as unhelpful because it may take someone a long time to read your complaint and then respond to it. As you can see, both the phone and the Internet can be frustrating and waste a lot of time. Therefore, complaining directly is the best way. Why? Well, first of all, we can assume that the company I am complaining to will want to see the damaged parcel, so by visiting face to face I can show them the package. This will give evidence that they did not properly wrap my item and they are responsible for it. Also, I can show them straightforwardly that I am upset with their service. When the staff see that I am disappointed, they will be nicer and try to help me with my problem.

And finally, complaining in person is the best way because I can ask for the manager if there are any further problems and he or she will try his or her hardest to help me. This will get results! So, as you can see, the personal touch is the best way to get things accomplished.

Being there in person would also convey to the company’s representatives my anger and frustration over the situation, and hopefully they will be eager to resolve the situation as swiftly as possible.

And finally, complaining in person is the best way because I can ask to speak to the person in charge and thus receive immediate and decisive responses to my demands. This will yield results! So, in conclusion, the personal touch is the best way to get things done.

This is a very topical subject, especially because people are concerned about shrinking oil supplies and global warming. My opinion is that it is not reasonable to ask people to use public transport for all journeys.

To begin with, there are circumstances when it is simply not practical to use buses and trains. In the countryside, for example, people need a car or motorbike to do basic things like shopping and taking children to school. There are not enough buses and trains. Next, there are some times when a car is the only possible means of transport – I am thinking about shopping for a lot of, say, food. It is not possible to struggle home on public transport with many heavy bags. Or again, if someone needs to get to a doctor or hospital urgently or in the middle of the night, then a car is essential.

Secondly, it is a matter of principle that people should be able to spend their hard-earned money in any way they like, and it is obvious that cars are very popular. This is perhaps not surprising since in some professions such as sales and estate agencies, public transport is inadequate. It is because staff may have to visit customers in all sorts of places at all times of the day. It is impossible to make all required trips by public transport.

Thirdly, the effect on the car industry would be disastrous if everyone used public transport only. Huge companies such as Toyota or Ford employ hundreds of thousands of people, and they would lose their livelihoods. There are also many other associated industries which would suffer – like gas suppliers, tire manufacturers, advertising companies and so on.

Despite the comments above, I do think that public transport has certain advantages. For example, it is less polluting, and it is cheaper than using a car or motorbike. However, the idea that people should always use public transport is, in my view, unreasonable and impractical.

Thus, as things stand at the moment, I think people are justified in using private vehicles to get around. This could change to some extent in the future if the government considerably improved the quality of public transport.

Thirdly, I believe that citizens would be healthier if private vehicles were banned, at least in city areas. There would be much less pollution in the air and many would probably walk to work.

I disagree that job satisfaction is more important that money for these following two reasons.

Firstly, according to a research by the team from Harvard University, it seems that about 85% of people who find their full time job and quit their former part time because the former offered few salaries to make both ends meet, even though more than half of them say that they move on to the current job because of job satisfaction in their job interview.

Secondly, I found out that 90% more workers have much satisfaction to their jobs because they can concentrate on their works when I prepared my thesis and oral evaluation at college. And more than 60% of employees who enjoy lower satisfaction because they can’t concentrate when they face a lot of competitions in the workplace from who compare everything they have with them, such like car, house, spouse, child, bonus, salary, revenue, clothes, travel, performance and promotion. Among them, some about 98% managers says that they had suffered from this kind of bitterness but then get rid of it. The most significant change acknowledged by their bosses is that they could formerly concentrate on a single subject, such like telephone message for less than 8 seconds, and now they can concentrate on an announcement for more than 12 seconds.

Furthermore, an article by a columnist and sociologist named Alexandra Barbara revealed that 38% of couples in the U.S., 35% in East Asia, and 42% in Europe divorce because the wife or the husband decided to get a job with less pay but that it seems to be a job with less than forty hours a week or it would cost less time to commute. But they eventually take more time on quarrels and in the end, he or she smokes much more, eats much more, or cheats on the spouse under the economic pressure.

In conclusion, some of us underestimate the role of money in our career life. Satisfaction of job is our goal, but if you neglect the mean – money, your effort to reach full satisfaction will be a castle in the air. To most of people, money plays a great role if they don’t have enough money.

This issue is not clear-cut as both money and job satisfaction are important in deciding on a career. I think, however, that on balance it is more important to try to get job satisfaction.

The first reason for this is that a person spends the best part of their waking life in a job. In my view, there is absolutely no reason to spend this in an unhappy way. I, myself, have a love of public affairs and feel lucky that I work in a local government in downtown Taitung. I look forward to getting up in the morning in order to see what new services have been provided. I also like helping members of the public to select suitable schemes. So, although I do not earn as much as money as some of my friends, I do not mind at all.

The second reason is that everyone should do their job to the best of their ability and this is only possible if you are happy in your work. For example, an entrepreneur will be able to start a business successfully when he has passion for his work. He will then make the most of all his skills and even develop new ideas.

Also, although a lesser paid job may not sound a good idea at the start of person’s career, I think that it may lead to a very good salary later on. This is because if you love your job, you will be willing to fully devote yourself to it and, therefore, are likely to get promoted. You may even want to start your own company and employ others.

I appreciate that some people cannot consider doing a job that they like a lot. Instead, they must go for a big salary. Maybe they have a family to support or other commitments. I know some workers who only tolerate their jobs and look forward to time off. It is a shame that they cannot enjoy their work.

On the whole, therefore, I feel that it is best to go for a career that you will enjoy if this is possible.

This issue is not clear-cut as both money and job satisfaction are important in deciding on a career. I think, however, that on balance it is more important to make sure that the pay is adequate.

The first reason for this is that it is not possible to enjoy life if you are worried about money. Basic costs for food, clothes, housing, and transport are constantly rising. In my view, it is also reasonable to want a car, some entertainment and a holiday once a year.

Hobbies also can cost quite a lot. I, myself, have a love of reading, and often spend money on my book collections.

In addition, most young people, when they start a job, are looking to become independent from their parents as soon as possible. In my country it is usual to pay your parents part of your salary as soon as you get a job. Then later, you will maybe want an apartment for your own and perhaps a family. All these things will come more easily if you have paid attention to your career and salary from the start.

The final reason is that I think it is true to say that people today are much more concerned about financial matters than they were a few years ago. This concern was caused by the credit crunch of 2008/9. As a result, good jobs are seen as much more desirable because they bring financial security.

Against this argument, some will say that work should be enjoyed. For example, I have a friend who enjoys writing and is very happy working for a local newspaper although the salary is not great. She feels that, as she loves her job and can devote all her energies to it, it is likely that she will get promoted. She hopes to start her own media company one day. I admire people like this as they have special determination and talent, but this career pattern will not suit most of us.

On the whole, therefore, I feel it is more important to pay close attention to financial matters when choosing a job. If you like the work, then that is a big bonus.

Well, I think training within the company is better.

Recently, I was offered in-service training by my employer and found it very good. I work in Taitung Land Office. Firstly, I found the training helped me directly with my duties in the company. This is not the case if you train at a separate institution like a business school, no matter how good the teaching is.

Also, it helped me bond with my fellow workmates because we learned new things together and shared our ideas with each other!

The first reason is that to surf on the Internet is easier than it was in the past when the smartphone and tablet computer emerge, however, we do not only take advantage of every period among work, commute, bath and sleep but also use them to surf the Internet while having a meeting, having a check-up in a dental clinic, or, even being a bride in the wedding ceremony.

The second reason is that we have shorter interval of attention on everything such like finishing a job, going on a date, having a crush, or maintain a romantic relationship. For example, my colleagues frequently complain to me that their children cannot even listen to them for merely 7 seconds.

In addition, many people turn to the Internet to avoid the difficulties in reality, but the Internet, therefore, take almost all the time from the events regarding career, marriage, and family. For instance, a son of my former classmate became a NEET after he graduated from college and was refused by many company. In the end, his girlfriend left him and got married with another guy whom she has known before. He spends all the time surfing on the Internet and still have no job, no car, and even, no dream. Many of his acquaintance cannot distinguish him while seeing him at his home.

I appreciate that sometimes the internet is essential in a company setting. For example, the same information can instantly be sent to all employees. The internet is also useful for communication between companies and for keeping in touch with customers. Many companies have their own websites which means they can give out information about their products and sell them online. Such transactions are cost-effective and efficient. However, apart from the practical considerations, how the Internet benefits people on a deeper level is still a question.

In conclusion, I believe the disadvantages of the Internet can outweigh its advantages if great care is not taken in its use.

Nowadays, fewer people are choosing to practice speaking the local dialect and mother tongues. Maintaining proficiency in a dialect can be time consuming and tiring. However, the problem with the gradual disappearance of a local dialect is that certain treasured aspects of culture will also disappear.

It is sad to hear that some native language and its cultures are going to disappearing because many people think it is a dialect and it is impolite and inappropriate to use it when they make friends, meet their clients, and engage to their girlfriends. The content of Taiwanese dialects have a lot of experience of dealing with failure and demonstrating some spoken guidelines of the conventional value system. If cannot only save us from crisis that incur once a several centuries but also can give consistency to our lives while dealing with the changes.
Many dialects contain high amount of wisdom. For example, there is a proverb of Ming-nan dialect saying that borrowing money from friends or ask friends to do you a favor too much will damage friendship. It can make many of us safe in the meantime, say, for example, when going to a Taiwanese opera and enjoying the performance. We can enrich our lives with variety and diversity, too.
It is common to find out most of social vulnerable groups can merely use the dialect to communicate and, thus, they cannot receive the latest information. Therefore they suffer a low social status and financial condition. To stabilize the society, we should keep in touch with the social vulnerable groups. Because many of them use dialect, so we must have a basic understanding of their respective dialects. I think that they should be an integrated part of our society. Therefore, we can enjoy a higher diversity of culture and enrich our lives. If we want to reach some social vulnerable groups, we should adapt us to their cultures, including their dialects.
Promoting dialects may face strong opposite opinions and many difficulties, but it will a profound way to improve the welfare. In conclusion, if we have a stabilized society, we can also live under safety and thus bring down the cost of living.  0404130414

One of my favorite times of the year is Ghost Month. In Taiwan, Ghost Month is a time of honoring ancestors. Local people and family members gather during this time to show respect for the dead. Among other rituals, families usually burn paper money and offer food for the dead to use in the afterlife. Unfortunately, this tradition is gradually disappearing from our culture. As family members live further and further apart from each other, is becomes increasingly difficult for relatives to travel in order to meet together and perform the rituals honoring their forefathers. In fact, nowadays, we find that many young families do not carry on this tradition. Some people even think burning paper money is harmful to the environment, so they have stopped doing so.



Despite this trend, I believe that honoring our ancestors is a tradition worth preserving. By remember our forefathers, we remind ourselves to be grateful for the things we have. Our ancestors worked diligently, even when times were difficult, and did so in order to provide better homes and futures for their children and grandchildren. By observing Ghost Month, we are reminded of their sacrifice, their wisdom, and their love for us. Not only do we remember them, but we also reflect upon our own lives. As we struggle in our modern and challenging era, it is comforting to know that our ancestors had faced similar adversities and overcame them.

While I believe that the tradition of Ghost Month should continue and flourish, I can understand that some people might find the activities a bit old-fashioned. However, I would argue that the ceremonies of Ghost Month are not the same as the purpose. Instead, the true reason to continue to celebrate Ghost Month is to remember that we in the modern age would not exist without the gifts of our past ancestors as well as the importance for people of today to continue that tradition of generosity.

In conclusion, I strong encourage my peers to continue celebrating Ghost Month every year. If people believe rituals are outdated or wasteful, instead of making food and paper money offerings, we can perform acts of kindness in our ancestors’ honor instead. It is traditionally believed that if we can give forward in the name of our ancestors, then the legacy of giving can continue. The acts can be small, so we can perform one on each day of the Ghost Month. Little acts of kindness can be as simple as giving directions to someone who is lost. We can also call a faraway friend, pick up groceries for an elderly neighbor, or give our lunch boxes to a homeless person. By making Ghost Month a time of giving, we honor our ancestors with love and generosity.
